About Us

History of the Cemetery

Founded in 1845, East Bridgewater Central Cemetery was established as part of the 19th century Garden Cemetery Movement by civic-minded residents who envisioned a peaceful, non-sectarian resting place near the heart of town. Inspired by the New England rural garden cemetery movement, the grounds were designed to offer a place of beauty and quiet reflection, blending natural landscape with thoughtful design.

Today, the cemetery spans approximately 17 acres of rolling, well-maintained land, serving generations of families with dignity, respect, and a commitment to preservation.
